Games Bound with Jared Enderton

July 31, 2018

First off, a huge congratulation on taking 5th place at the CrossFit South Regional this year to punch your ticket to Madison for the 2018 CrossFit Games! Now that you’ve had time to soak it all in, how does it feel?

Jared: It feels pretty incredible. That was a pretty cool moment hearing my name called at Regionals for the 5th place spot. It’s been a long journey over the last decade for me. So to see all of that hard work pay off was pretty cool. I took a little bit of time off after Regionals then got right back to work. New goals to tackle!

When did you know that you wanted to try to qualify for the CrossFit Games?

Jared: The first day I started CrossFit - September 1st, 2015. When I go into something it’s always “all or nothing.” Before I even started I knew that if I was going to try CrossFit that I wanted to go all the way. That’s been my goal the entire time.

Why was this year different for you from years past?

Jared: I wish I had a huge thing I did differently - but the biggest thing was time. I’ve been CrossFitting just under 3 years now. So I think I just needed the training time to accumulate so my aerobic system could get to where it needed to be. It still has a long way to go but I just needed time to continue to develop it.  That, along with getting my bodyweight / diet under control (weighing 193-194 right now vs. 210-215) made a huge difference.

How have you transitioned training to get ready for the Games?

Jared: All the volume, haha! I have incorporated a lot more pure endurance work in terms of swimming, biking, running, etc. Of course, more metcons per day and what not as well.

Do you have any specific nutrition plans/supplement regimen you follow to aid your training?

Jared: Yeah, I follow RP Strength diet templates and I get my meals from Trifecta.  That has been clutch. In terms of supplements I take on a daily basis it is: Fish Oil, Multivitamin, Xtreme Endurance, Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Iron, myHMB, PEAK ATP, Creatine, and Protein.

Since this will be your first year competing at the Games, what goals or expectations do you have for yourself?

Jared:  It sounds so cliche, but it’s the truth: my goal is to compete to the best of my ability. My #1 goal at regionals was NOT to be in the top 5. My #1 goal was to give every event all I had. My #2 goal was to be in the top 5. I can control my effort but I can’t always control my placement. So I have the same mindset going into the games. Just looking to compete as hard as I can on every single event and let the chips fall where they may.

On another note – you’ve been an Invictus Weightlifting Coach for a while now.  Tell us more about that and what it entails?

Jared:  Coaching on Invictus Weightlifting has been incredible. I get to write all of the programming and coach all of the athletes myself. It has been 1 year now since we’ve launched and I can’t even begin to tell you how shocked I’ve been at the growth and explosion of the community. It’s been truly humbling how many athletes have been on the program and it continues to progress. I wouldn’t trade it for the world!

Lastly, we see the beard is still on point… does it give you special powers?

Jared: I always say - it increases my Snatch and CJ by 5%. Grow one out and give it a shot, haha!

Thanks again Jared for taking the time! We wish you the best of luck competing at the CrossFit Games!
